Michael Baldwin
Firefighter Michael Baldwin started his fire service career with MVRFD in 2018 as a volunteer. In February of 2019 he became a Resident volunteer of the District and both lived and worked at MVRFD Station 1 for 3 years. During this time he began working with Oregon Department of Forestry as a Wildland Fire Suppression Specialist where he spent two Summers fighting fires for the state and working shifts at MVRFD during his weekends and evenings. After Michael's time with ODF ended he began working part-time at Sweet Home Fire as a Part-Time Firefighter / EMT where he worked for 1 1/2 years. Michael began do develop an interest in the world of Technical Rope Rescue and was recruited for a position in the private world of Personnel Rescue where he spent two years both leading and being a part of multiple successful rescue missions in austere environments. During this time he began teaching classes for Hotshot Firefighters across the country in skill such as Trauma Medicine and Self-Rescue. In July of 2023 Michael exited the private sector and transitioned back to where his whole journey started as the Recruitment / Retention Coordinator for MVRFD.
Firefighter Baldwin has earned a variety of awards and certifications during his 5 year career in Emergency Services. He received a Distinguished Conduct medal from the Oregon State Board of Fire Chiefs in 2020 during the Holiday Farm fire, and has received a Unit Citation for the same incident. Baldwin has earned his EMT - Basic, Advanced, and Intermediate along with many Technical Rescue certifications throughout his career.
Baldwin has proven himself to be a dedicated member of our team. Firefighter Baldwin currently works as our Logistics and Recruitment and Retention Coordinator.
